New homes in old neighborhoods: Infill housing in Athens

Friday, March 24 12:00 PM

The UGA Housing and Demographic Research Center is hosting a brown bag event on Friday, March 24th from 12-1:15pm in Tate Center room 473.

Residential infill housing has been a source of contention in some Athens’ neighborhoods where smaller, older homes are being replaced by or renovated into newer, larger homes. Yet, infill housing does not always mean housing that is incompatible with the existing neighborhood. This month’s housing forum will bring together perspectives from planning, design, and construction to discuss the range of policy and design issues of infill housing.

Speakers include:

Bruce Lonnee, Senior Planner, Athens-Clarke County Planning Department

Lori Bork, Architect at Bork Design Inc.

Michael Songster, Builder at Michael Songster Construction.
